Music Portfolio
This is a sampling of some of the features and reviews Michael Giltz has written about music. A passionate music lover with thousands of albums on CD (not to mention vinyl and 78s he can play on his Victrola), Michael Giltz has covered a wide range of genres, from the operas and classical music of Philip Glass to the Broadway show tunes of Stephen Sondheim, the jazz of Terence Blanchard and Cassandra Wilson to the country of Rosanne Cash, the folk of Joan Baez to the rock of Bruce Springsteen, Paul Simon and Teddy Thompson. He was only the third film music critic at “Premiere Magazine,” following directly in the footsteps of Steely Dan frontman Donald Fagen. A champion of new artists, Michael Giltz has been an early supporter of talent like Duncan Sheik, Corinne Bailey Rae, Rumer, James Hunter, Nellie McKay and Sharon Jones, among many others.
